Being a middle child always gets a bad rep, but John Jacob actually enjoys it.
"I enjoy having siblings. We all get along well and support each other no matter what," said Jacob when asked if he enjoyed his two step sisters, biological sister, and brother. This was one of the many positive responses he gave me about his family.
"I live with my grandparents, but I will soon be moving in with my mom. My grandparents' house is just very isolated, but they have loved and cared for me, and I am very thankful for that," said John.
At one point in John's life he lived in California, where he was born, as well as Chattanooga. When asked which place he enjoyed living the most, he replied with, "Knoxville because in Chattanooga and California we did not live in the best neighborhoods."
Although John is only a junior, he has a pretty good idea of what he wants to do with his life. "I want to do something in engineering. I will probably go to Pellissipi for two years and then move to California."
We both agree that two free years of college is hard to pass up.
Along with his interest in engineering, John enjoys playing instruments. His favorite to play is the guitar, but he admits that it can be hard finding free time to play.
"With a job at Panera and school work, I sometimes don't play much."
Along with Journalism class, John also takes German as an elective. "German is not very hard. Some people say it is, but I find it easy," replied John when asked if German was a hard language to learn.
John must be an elective person because he also says that he does his best grade wise in elective classes. History is his favorite subject to learn though.
"I'm good at engineering type stuff because my dad, who is incarcerated, taught it to me," replied John when asked about his passion for engineering.
Engineering has become more than a dream for John, it has become a heart connection for father and son who are separated by walls, and that will take him further in life than he could ever imagine.
Things may not have always been easy for John, but it is clear to see that he has an amazing future ahead.
